Another weekend's almost gone!

Why do the weeks seem to crawl by but the weekends fly. I guess time flies when you're having fun, but I'm ready for Drew to get some vacation! My dad found out he is fine, which is a huge relief. Too bad they had to run so many tests to determine that, but I'm glad he's ok and has a strong and healthy heart! It also prevented us from making a 12 hour drive on Thursday.

Friday was a busy day, with all the initial hype about Hurricane Dean possibly hitting Texas, we decided it was a good time to make a hurricane survival kit. We took my car to Wal-Mart to get an oil change and in the process tried to buy some basic things like water and canned goods. But it was tax free weekend and Wal-Mart was a madhouse, they also ran out of water so we decided to try a different Wal-Mart later that night instead of prime time shopping hours (3pm!).

We finally got my transcript to the school I am planning to transfer to and hopefully will be able to register for classes tomorrow...even though they start tomorrow. At least there's late registration!

Friday night we went to Target, of course they were out of water too. We made one more stop at a different Wal-Mart and they were re-stocking the gallons of water. We bought enough for the 2 of us and our puppy for a week should we need it. We also stocked up on canned foods, batteries, flashlights, and a radio. A hundred dollars and an hour later we finally went home. It was an exhausting day...shopping always has that effect on me.

Saturday we went downtown to some of the museums since they were free, but everyone else in the city seemed to come out too. And when they advertise free, they don't always really mean it. What it means is that a few of the exhibits are free, but some still cost. And it seemed like at the Natural History museum everything I was interested in were the ones that cost extra. We did tour a few of the museums and then got sick of fighting the crowds and decided to call it a day there too.

Then today we've been lounging around a lot. I did have a little time to scrapbook this weekend, so I will share my latest page. I scraplifted idea from arb*smommy on 2 Peas! Thanks for the great inspiration.

I also completed this page at a mid-week crop I attended on Wednesday night!

Wow, my first post!

So I finally decided to give in and start a blog. It seems like everyone has one now so I guess I'm finally coming out of the stone age to join in with the technologically advanced!

I can't believe it's Monday already, where did the weekend go? It flew by, I guess it didn't help that Drew got off two hours later than normal on Friday. By the time he got home we ate dinner and hung out a little and it was time for bed. I did go to the online chat with Cynthea from Doodlebug over at Scrapdango. They always have the best chats and I love their kits. I wound up winning a prize so I'm excited to see what cool stuff I will get!

Saturday morning we had to get up at 4:45 am because our group volunteered for a Childspree at Target. We had to be to our assigned Target at 6:00 am and it just so happened our assigned Target was 30 minutes away. Once we got there, we were given instructions and at 6:30 they started pairing up volunteers with a child or children who we were supposed to shop with. Each child was a foster child who was removed from an abusive home and they were given a $100 allowance to purchase new clothes for school. Drew and I were paired with two brothers, one was entering 10th grade and one was entering 11th grade. Somehow about 5 minutes into it, Drew and his child went to a different department, leaving me alone with the 11th grader. I was specifically hoping for an elementary school child because I'm not much out of my teens myself and I feel a little intimidated by high schoolers. But he wound up being easy to shop with, he knew what he needed and I just kept up with how much he was spending. He was also a polite boy so it all worked out ok. We finished our shopping by 7:25 and had until 8:00 to eat breakfast and wait for his mom to come get him! We left Target about 8:45 and by the time we got home we were ready for a nap! We wound up sleeping until 1pm so the day was practically gone by the time we woke up!

Other than that, the weekend was just relaxing. We did go to Hobby Lobby to buy some rub-ons for a swap I'm involved in on 2 Peas, and I wound up getting some Autumn Leaves journaling stamps that I've been eyeing for a while now! I did get some scrapbooking in this weekend, but haven't finished my current layout. I'll post a picture when I finish it!

Today, I had my finals in 2 of 3 classes. The 3rd is online and my final test is tomorrow. After that I officially have one week off! I plan to be lazy, watch tv, clean the house, and scrapbook! Tonight our group is going to a place that has bowling, mini golf, pool tables, laser tag, and arcade games all in one. They run a special on Monday nights where you can buy a package and get unlimited play for $10. We tried to go last week, but they were sold out by the time we got there at 6:30 (they don't start selling them till 5!). So I talked to the manager and he has agreed to put aside enough packages for our group so we can get them when we get there! It should be fun! Hope everyone's having a great Monday!
